Surfing in Croyde
You do not have to be a surfer to experience the excitement of Croyde's surf break - Many visitors new to the sport have tried a few lessons with a local surf school and been amazed at the fun you can have learning the sport. Others enjoy bodyboarding, skim-boarding or just pure body-surfing, all of which are possible at Croyde beach. During the season the beach is patrolled by professional lifeguards who aim to keep all beach-users safe. On days when you may prefer to try the waves at another beach, only a few minutes drive away are Putsborough, Saunton and Woolacombe. Jenny and Richard, and son Joe, have all surfed for many years and can give you advice on where to go, weather conditions and surf hire.
You can hire surf equipment at all the beaches, and in Croyde and Braunton villages.
At "Breakers*'guesthouse we have washing and drying facilities for your wetsuits and towels and a safe storage area for your boards.
For the more experienced surfers, the Atlantic swells which bring superb waves to North Devon*s coast, can often generate excellent conditions at many times of the year.
Although the summer brings warmer water, many surfers enjoy the crisp, clean lines of an autumn or winter session, and our accommodation is available all year round. All our self-catering properties have heating, double-glazing and hot showers and baths so they are suitable for off-season stays anytime.
At Croyde "Breakers" B&B we are open from Easter until November.
